Travel by train
It is very easy and relaxing to travel around in Upper Bavaria by train - DB Regio Oberbayern. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a major travel hub and is connected with Munich, Innsbruck and Reutte via rails. Both Innsbruck and Munich are just about 80 min away by train – definitely one of the nicest train rides in the Northern Alps with Garmisch-Partenkirchen right in the middle … great views included. On vacation rush hours and weekends the train is also a nice solution to avoid traffic jams, and on bad weather days we suggest to take a little sightseeing and shopping trip to Munich.
The Sport-Quartier is located just two kilometers away from the Garmisch main station. You can either choose between making the 25-min walk to the Sport-Quartier or taking a taxi or the city bus (route 1 and 2). The bus stop closest to the Sport-Quartier is called “Wildenauer Straße”.
Travel by car:
There are many ways to get to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, when traveling by car. From Munich it’s best to follow the A95 Autobahn all the way to its southern end and then continue on the B2 all the way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. From Augsburg the B23 leads you all the way to Oberau, when it intersects with the B2. Once you arrived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen keep going on the B2 in direction to Mittenwald/Innsbruckust and shortly before leaving Garmisch-Partenkirchen again take a right towards the huge ski jumps. The Sport-Quartier is located at their foot. When traveling to Garmisch-Partenkirchen from the South (Brenner, Innsbruck, Salzburg) take the Inntal Autobahn A12/E60 and then turn North on the B2/E533 towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen/Mittenwald. Just keep going on the B2 and take a left towards the ski jumps right after entering Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
